Rooster Cogburn B 1975

This is an alternate Rooster Cogburn mug.  We conclude it was not made for True Grit as this is a Ketchum mug and the True Grit mugs were made by the Mug Shop.   We also believe it is likely these mugs were handed out for the Academy Awards. While this mug has the solid gold handle, we have also seen a version with the striped handle.   Jeff from Pennsylvania tells us this Rooster Cogburn mug was from the Bar 26 ranch John Wayne owned with Louis Johnson because of the steer on the back and other items Jeff owns from the ranch with the same logo.
