Chisum was the eighth mug that was made by the Mug Shop. Once again they used the Burden China blank mug for this one. Pictured on the mug is the iconic opening and closing scene of John Simpson Chisum(John Wayne) atop his horse overlooking his sprawling ranch. They used the same scene in the movie twice merely reversing the zooming in at the beginning to out at the end. We would like to thank the grandson of Bob Simpson, Alan for providing the set photo of Duke and Forest Tucker. Bob Simpson was the film editor for Chisum and he also worked on The Undefeated and Cahill US Marshall. Andrew McLaglen thought so much of Bob that he asked him to come out of retirement to work on John Wayne’s movies. As you can imagine, his grandson is very proud of his grandfather and the mugs that John Wayne gave him. We always enjoy hearing from John Wayne fans at our website and we really appreciate when someone contributes to it!
