The Shootist 1976

The Shootist is the sixth and last mug that was made by Ketchum Originals, located at 1105 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, Calif.   Of note, instead of the usual solid gold handle, this mug merely has a single stripe down the handle, as shown to the right.   There is also a solid gold handle version as shown below.  There are other John Wayne mugs that feature the “striped” handles.  Since all the “movie” mugs have a solid gold handle version, we surmise the striped handle versions were probably made for a special occasion related to the movie… maybe an Academy Award event.   There were only several “striped” handle mugs made, so some collectors put a premium value on them.  There are more shown in the OTHERS section.
